Driver Spotlight: An Interview with Pierce Urbanosky

Trust in God and check your safety belts.

I am so glad that I found this interview questionnaire that Pierce Urbanosky filled out for me earlier this year.  His answers were handwritten in pencil, and just so honest and real.

Pierce has been racing at KAM Kartway for 8 years and started out in our Kid Kart class. He is now in the Outlaw 250cc class and the reigning Outlaw 250 Class Champion at KAM Kartway.  You can see his Driver Profile here.  Driver Profiles are FREE for all KAM racers, so if you would like to add yours just let me know.

How long have you been racing?

8 years

What made you want to start racing?

 Just a hobby.

Do you (or did you) do other sports?

Football

What do you say to people who don’t think racing is a real sport?

I said “What is NASCAR? A sport” “Well that’s racing.”

Who is your biggest fan? Mom or Dad?

Both

Do you ever get nervous or have you ever been when it comes to your racing?

 Yes, mostly on what kind of track it is.

What is the scariest thing that has happened to you at the track?

Head on collision in 250’s, when I was spun-out and had another car tear off my wing panel.

What is your advice to Rookie, or young, drivers who get nervous or scared before their race?

\"TrustTrust in God and check your safety belts.

What advice would you give a young driver that you wish someone had shared with you when you got started?

It is hard to think that far back.

Yes

What is your proudest moment so far in your career?

When I won 3.5 HP with my Kid Kart.

How would you describe your driving style?

Good

Who is your favorite professional race car driver?

Jimmy Johnson

Who is/was your racing mentor?

My Dad and still is.

Bad calls happen in every sport, what is your advice to other drivers when they feel they have gotten a bad call?

You can’t win them all.
