Amber started racing when she was 11 in flat karts/asphalt at NTK where we were members. She was one of only 2 girls that raced in the entire club for a number of years.
She picked her number (#3) for Dale Earnhardt because he was her favorite NASCAR driver. She eventually got the nickname “Ms. Intimidator” after him.
Amber was featured in a book about Kart Racing that was published in 2001 and distributed world wide.
In 2002 Amber won a Triad at the KART Nationals held at OMC in Norman, Ok. She was the first female driver to win a Triad.
In 2003 at the age of 16 Amber qualified 3rd out of Texas for the semi-finals held at Irwindale Speedway in California for a national talent search: the Red Bull Driver Search. She ended up crashing 2 karts at the event and didn’t place. Driver and fellow competitor Scott Speed eventually won the event and went on to become a professional race car driver and drove for NASCAR. [Click here for race results.]
By 2005 Amber’s racing schedule slowed down due to the new track (KAM Kartway) where she acted as score keeper and co-Race Director the first year.
Amber quit racing in 2006 after graduating from High School and joined the Cost Guard, and has made a career out of being enlisted.
Amber married her wife, Lynn in September of 2014. They now live in Norfolk, VA with their two dogs.
