Embracing Failure as a Learning Tool

\"Failure

“Failure is a stepping stone to success.”

Some mistakes are greater than others – but we just have to keep digging.  Bouncing back is inevitable for those who don’t give up.  The true test is how you deal with defeat.  Accept failure as a part of life.  Mistakes are fundamentally part of the human condition.  Some degree of failure is inevitable every time we step out of our comfort zone.  Chanel your failure into something positive.

It’s okay to get upset.  It’s hard not to get frustrated or upset when you hit bottom or are facing a series of obstacles.  As much as you have to reach down and push aside your anger, anxiety, or resentment in the name of good sportsmanship it’s okay to take a minute and stomp your feet to release the tension.  Take some private time and space to let loose those raw emotions and clear your head.

Reflect on the lessons!  You need to be brutally honest with yourself about what happened.  Driver error?  Lack of skill set? Or just a bone head move?  Where did I go wrong?  Learn from failure vs making excuses or you will end up with a bigger problem and will repeat the mistake.

Own your mistakes.  If you’re being honest about your mistakes and learned from the experience, it’s critically important to take ownership of the situation.  Taking ownership for mistakes shows others you are accountable and have integrity.  You will keep support of others by doing this.

Redefine what failure means to you.  Reframe your failings and redefine your objectives.  Re-approach a negative outlook by considering how this failure is part of a bigger life lesson.  Mo matter how many times you fail you are not a failure, as long as you don’t give up.

Take actions and move on.  The next step is the biggest test to see if you can rebound from your failure.  What solution have you come up with to rectify the problem? Remember your-learned lessons as you progress and keep moving forward.  You’ll emerge stronger and more resilient than before.

“Always make a total effort, even when the odds are against you.” – Arnold Palmer

Rise above the obstacles.

Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.
